Robert (Bob) A. Fosnaugh, loving husband of Frances A. Fosnaugh, passed away on May 19, 2024, at the age of 92.

Robert (Bob) was born in Clinton, Illinois to George and Gladys Fosnaugh. Valedictorian of Clinton High School, class of 1950, Bob went to the University of Illinois where he graduated with a B.S. in civil engineering in 1954. Maintaining the family tradition, he took a job with the Illinois Central Railroad in Carbondale, Illinois.

In 1955, he married Frances (Fran) K. Adams, his college girlfriend. In 1956, Bob accepted a position with Harlan, Bartholomew, and Associates in Memphis, Tennessee, working on the new US highway interstate system. In 1964, he became the traffic engineer for the city of Memphis, a position he held until 1973.

Always interested in the West, Bob and family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Bob accepted the position as Albuquerque's city traffic engineer in 1973.

Bob left his position as Albuquerque's traffic engineer 1987 and returned to consulting engineering with Bohannan Huston, Inc, and independently until his retirement in 1998.

Throughout his professional life, Bob was involved in the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), serving as President of the Tennessee ITE from 1970 - 1971.

Bob embraced New Mexico and the West and quickly adapted to New Mexico chiles and hiking in the Sandia Mountains. With this start, he and Fran extended their travels to yearly trips, mostly centered on hiking, to Europe and beyond.

Bob also loved music and was a supporter of the New Mexico Philharmonic. He sang with the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church choir for many years and enjoyed Sunday morning Chatter programs.

Bob is survived by his wife, Frances, his daughters Kathy Fosnaugh (Lanny Commeree), and Nancy Lockwood (Jeff), and grandchildren, Erin Lockwood (Chris Sardo), Ethan Lockwood (Molly Jennings), and Charles Bergren, great-granddaughters, Josephine and Meredith Sardo, and his sister Linda Barber (Jack).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church on 5301 Ponderosa Ave NE., in Albuquerque, NM, at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Mexico Philharmonic, the United Way of Central New Mexico, and St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
