Ronald "Ron/Ronnie" Becerra



Our loving father passed away peacefully in the presence of his wife, three children and his oldest granddaughter and caretaker in his final days on August 16, 2021. He was born on July 20, 1934 in Ft. Madison, Iowa. He was one of five brothers and one sister, the father of one son, two daughters, grandfather to seven and great-grandfather to ten.

He joined the Army at the young age of 15. He was a proud paratrooper of the "All American Division," the 82nd Airborne.

He married the Love of his Life, Dolores Castillo in September 1954 and would have completed 67 years of marriage this year. Ron also lived "Crusillo" in 1979 at San Jose Catholic Church. Ron was a barber for 20 years, before he went into the banking business. He dearly loved and was devoted to his family, a large family, which included his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He touched everyone he met and left an impression as a compassionate listener, a great conversationalist, intelligent, well read, lighthearted and most of all a huge Cubs fan.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Moises and Modesta Becerra, his step mother, Maria Becerra, his four brothers, Moises, Herbert, Ernest and Joey. He is survived by his wife Dolores Becerra, his sister Mary Jo Douglass, husband Dave, his son Steve, wife Pauline, his daughter Nadine, husband David, and his daughter Veronica, partner Matt Loehman. He leaves behind seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 11:30am on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 with a funeral mass to follow at 12:00 pm at Holy Ghost Catholic Church (833 Arizona SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108), with Inurnment to follow at 3pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
