Russell Snyder Obituary

Russell Robert Snyder

Russell Robert Snyder passed away at the age of 68 on October 12th, 2021. He was preceded in death by Connie Snyder, wife and beloved mother. He is survived by Cathy Snyder, wife, and sons Zack , Zeb, and Zeke Snyder; and grandchildren Alex, Zane, Zoey, Austin, Luke, Ayden, Max, Zuri, Zyah and Coco.

The definition of Russ our dad was a One-of-a-kind, Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, husband, friend, mentor, teacher, giver, learner, boss, construction master, concrete God, problem solver, company owner, junkyard king, collector, BBQ master, traveler, ultra-light flier, fisherman, political thinker, great American, inventor, creator, storytelling legend who never complained. Truly one of a kind.

If you were lucky enough to meet Russ, you'd know he was rough around the edges and ornery as hell, but once you got to know him, you'd find out quickly he had the biggest heart of anyone. He always told us not to make a fuss when he died and "just dig a hole put me in box and bury me". Well, we're making a fuss! You spent your whole life taking care of everyone else so now we get to brag about you as much as we want. We know you hated to be recognized and given any attention, but we don't care this time. You were a Legend of construction and never stopped teaching. This guy loved concrete and everything about it. If he had it his way, everything would be made of concrete. He couldn't help himself, he wanted to make everyone and everything around him better. And you always knew when it was a special occasion because you'd show up wearing your fluorescent yellow safety shirt.

One thing, about Russ is he loved being around people he cared about. His family always came first in everything he did. He was raised in Sioux City, IA and spent a lot of his time growing up with his Grandpa Stokes working in the junkyard and helping to haul houses across the Missouri River in the winter. I'm proud that he founded Snyder Construction which now has nearly 100 employees. He was born into a loving family and died knowing that he was loved by everyone. He wasn't capable of being mean. Russ would always care for you and look out for you in his own way. You left us with a ton of memories and literally too many accomplishments to mention. Maybe if you would've done less we could've mentioned them all. Well Dad, this is goodbye for a short time. We love you and we'll see you on the other side. Enjoy your last road trip. P.S. thanks for being the best dad ever. Zack, Zeb and Zeke

Russ and I were best friends growing up in Sioux City. I am heartbroken that he´s gone. We used to go with his Granpa on his dump truck routes - his Grandpa was always saying, "Oh dammit Russell!" Still his Grandpa was quite the character as was Russell. We used to play Army all the time - I usually supplied all the guns for the neighborhood. I was very lucky to be invited to so many camping outings with the Snyder family. My wife Stacy and I will miss him

Very sorry to hear of Russ passing. Where are his parents, Dean & Ruth? Dad and Russ used to work for my dad building houses in Sioux City years ago.

I worked with Russ on a few construction projects over the years and I always enjoyed our conversations. He was a great guy to work with and he always made you feel like your project was important and that he was going to get it done and get it done right. I will miss working with you Russ. God Bless you

When we were kids, I always admired how far you'd be able to hit a base ball, while we all played at Hillcrest Park - VERY FAR!

Thank you Russell, for the many kindness' that you showed me when we were all younger, it was like 'you could be considered my older, big brother too [IF only 'in my mind] AS Arlene & I spent the night together, at your folk's house, a lot through out our younger years.

Today I promise your spirit, you'll never be forgotten because you were loved by so many BUT also by me, as a little girl.
Thank you, for leaving me with some good memories of our childhood.
