Sam Ashe Obituary

Sam Ashe

Sam Ashe, starting his next amazing journey. Dad loved traveling to new places around the world. He now has a free pass to travel for eternity...

Samuel David Ashe, age 85, died suddenly on Saturday, December 19, 2020 with his precious friend Marina Barela by his side. Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Goodie Ashe. He is survived by his three daughters, Erica Prinster, Ondi Lyon and Christina Kirk; his sons-in-law's, Michael Prinster and Eric Lyon; Christina's longtime partner, Mickey Greene; and his grandchildren, Valerie and Dominic Welker; and many wonderful longtime friends. For those who knew him well, dad went by many names: Father Sam, Sammy, Dad, Buzzy (childhood nickname), Granddad and Sam. Dad loved traveling, reading, and trivia games. When you met him, he would give you the "Warrior" handshake as a greeting and sign of peace. Sam was loved and will be truly missed. Bon Voyage Dad... We love you.

A Celebration of Life will be announced when public health conditions permit. Please visit our online guest book for Sam at

So sad to hear about Sam. Your appreciation for life ran deep and you lived it with genuine enthusiasm. Thanks for the conversations about music, movies and everything else, the lunches at Japanese Kitchen, and the laughs. I was glad we were able to talk earlier this year. Ask Aretha and Otis to duet on Respect one more time. I´ll be listening.
