1940 - 2017

Sandra L. Grisham (SanDee), age 77, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque, NM on July 11, 2017 surrounded by her beloved husband and children.

SanDee was born in North Chicago, IL and moved to Albuquerque in 1986. Her childhood dream was to live in the "Land of Enchantment" where she always felt a sense of spiritualism. While always artistic and creative, she began painting professionally in 1995. SanDee was a member of The New Mexico Art League and her award winning oil paintings have been accepted and displayed annually in the NM State Fair since 1996.

SanDee was a loving wife, mother and friend. She was a special angel who was loved by all who knew her. She was a thoughtful, cheerful and loving friend to too many to count, she lit up every room she walked into and everyone who knew her was touched by her joyful and vibrant spirit.

SanDee is survived by her husband Keith; her children, April Maroney (Ed) and Rodney Paul-Jones (David); brother, Joe Ciolek (Mary), best friend, Delores "Lolly" Gerhke; Keith's children, Warren (Kristina) and Greg, step-grandchildren, Andrea, Travis and Kyle; many nieces, nephews, cousins, loving friends, family and her dog, Cosmo.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Brandy Barrett, Sabrina Castro, Nathan Dice, Natalie Weiss, Julian Apodaca and OnPointe at Home; also Dr. Bakhti Sinor and Dr. James Bradley.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Albuquerque, NM and Gurnee, IL. SanDee was a true believer in helping others and giving to those less fortunate than her. Keith and family: I am so sorry to hear of your loss. SanDee was such a wonderful person. She totally lit up a room, and was talented, too. I treasure the painting she did for me of our heritage farm years ago, because it reminds me of her. I am sure many others will remember her the same way, through her art and her kindness. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Please know that even though I had not seen her in several years, I miss knowing that she is among us. She blessed us all with her thoughtfulness. To all her loved and knew SanDee, especially April, Rodney and Keith - you will no doubt forever remember her loving presence and passion for life. SanDee brought great joy to the people close to her and it is fitting that one of SanDee's requests after becoming ill was to "smile" whenever you think of her. A creative, passionate soul, she was a joy to know and be around and will be greatly missed by so many. My condolences to you and your family. A spirited light went out in your universe. I have wonderful memories of our adventure cruise and her stylish presence - especially at Rodney and David's wedding. I know your hearts are broken but I hope your many memories and loving friends are a comfort. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Sandee was a huge part of our childhood growing up and throughout our lives. She was my mom's best friend and we all loved her very much. I am happy that she is now pain free and in a better place.
