Scott Sanchez Obituary

Scott Alan Sanchez

Scott Alan

Sanchez, 55 of

Albuquerque, NM passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Scott was born October 3, 1963 in Albuquerque to Louis A. and Ora Vigil Sanchez. He grew up in Albuquerque and spent his childhood summers at the family's cabin in the Manzano Mountains southeast of the city. Scott attended St. Pius X and graduated from Highland High School. After completing a music production program at the Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, OH and studying photography at Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs, CO, Scott returned to New Mexico, where he spent the rest of his life. Scott is survived by his daughter, Anna Sanchez of Monroe, LA, his father, Louis Sanchez, siblings Kenneth

Sanchez, Karleen Dunkin,

Denise (Jim) Wambold,

and Kristopher Sanchez, nieces and nephews Sarah

Sanchez, Wesley Wambold, Emily Dunkin, Devon Wambold, and Gregory Wambold, and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family from Albuquerque and beyond. Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Ora (Vigil) Sanchez, maternal grandparents, Manuel and Teresa (Lujan) Vigil, paternal grandparents, Fred and Louisa (Pacheco) Sanchez, and brother-in-law, John Dunkin.

Music was the central thread in Scott's life. He developed a deep love of music at an early age and his knowledge of and appreciation for all types of music grew and flourished every day of his life. Scott taught himself to play several instruments and was involved with organizing and playing in many bands and attended countless concerts and music events over many years. Everyone seems to have a certain song they associate with Scott. That memory is his legacy. Scott will also be remembered for his love of cooking, photography, and his wonderful and ever-present sense of humor.

Private graveside services are planned for November 23, 2018. A celebration of Scott's life will be announced in early 2019.

Scott was a great musician who I had the pleasure of playing with. He had a passion for music, and I really enjoyed hearing his musical ideas when we played together. He also had a great sense of humor, and I remember laughing a lot with him. He will be greatly missed. I wish we could've connected later on, but I will be happy that I knew him and hung out with him earlier.

Please accept my deepest condolences. The loss of a loved one may be one of the most challenging times one can ever go through. May the God who binds the broken-hearted and comforts all who mourn strengthen you now and in the days to come. Isaiah 61:1,2

Scott, you were and are an integral part of my life. I looked up to you so much. I learned about music from you. I remember the fun times we had at all the concerts we used to attend. I remember you trying to teach me guitar and ultimately saying I should stick to cooking. And you were right. You were my favorite person in the world when I was younger and I'm who I am in many ways because of you. I remember you teaching me to cook pappardelle and shooting pool at your parent's cabin in the East Mountains and drinking cheap wine and laughing and laughing until our sides hurt. You were a poet and a musician and you were one of the funniest people I have ever known. The world is darker and less beautiful without you in it. I am glad and grateful our paths crossed again a few years ago and I send you to the other side with lots of love, affectionate and funny memories, and the knowledge that I will see you again someday. I'm glad you're with your Mom again and at peace. Love you very much. Your prima Vanessa
