Virginia Dickson Obituary

Virginia W. Dickson

April 26, 1922 - December 26, 2018

On December 26 as falling snow blanketed the ground outside her window and as family held her while singing Amazing Grace, Virginia Bess Walker Dickson left this world. Gram was one of those incredible people who left an impact on every person she met. She was kind, she was genuine, and as every one of us know, she was hilarious. Her wit was sharp, her timing was perfect, and she always had a kazoo on her, should levity or laughter be called for. If you left her alone for 10 minutes, 100% of the time you would come back to find that she had befriended a biker gang, an entire basketball team, or whoever happened to make eye contact with her. It's

just who she was.

Above everythin though, only one thing in the entire world mattered to Gram...her family. The well of love she had for every one of us was limitless. She lived for us and for our happiness and because of that, she lives on forever in us. We will miss her immensely, but smile in knowing that she's finally reunited with BJ, Johnny, Carol, and all of the others who have been waiting for her arrival.

We love you Gram.

Virginia was one of the first ladies I met when I visited P.E.O. Chapter EC in Dallas and was one of the reasons I became a member. She was so much fun and so sassy and the reason some of us have a kazoo to this day!! Much Love and Rest in Peace, Dear Virginia.

Our Grammy was one strong liberal lady, as well as stylish, kind, and always there for her family, friends, and people she just met moments before. She was a brilliant artist, loved to travel, loved adventures, she was so sassy, up until the day she died. Every thing she did was for her family and friends, she was always there for anyone in a crisis. She treasured life, and always did what ever she WANTED to do. She was sharp as a tack, and you could never pull one over on her. And believe me, we always tried! She was like a second mother to me, and taught me so much about art, current events, keeping us in touch with the rest of the family- Birthdays, updates on family members, and always taught us that education came first. She made the best pot roast in town! When John and I were little, she watched us after school, baked us cookies, kept us on weekends, and treated us like her own children. I am going to miss her so much, but I hope and pray we shall meet again. Goodbye, sweet Grammy, I will think of you every day now and forever. You were the best! I hope you are now in peace.❤ Your one and only Leander.
