Joseph Daigle Obituary

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette for Joseph Cleveland Daigle, 77, who died on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Capital Caring Hospice-Adler Center in Aldie, Virginia. Entombment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum, along side his beloved wife, Shirley Stelly Daigle. Reverend Harold J. Trahan, Pastor of St. Mary Mother of the Church in Lafayette, will serve as Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Angela Daigle and Rowdy Daigle. Giftbearers will be Pam Chaney and Anna Reed. Musical selections, performed by Karen Broussard, Organist & Soloist, will be "Amazing Grace", "I Can Only Imagine", "On Eagles' Wings" and "In the Arms of an Angel". Cherishing his memory is one daughter, Pam Daigle Chaney and her husband, Frederick "Fred" of Lafayette, LA; one son, Rowdy Patrick Daigle and his wife, Clarice of Asburn, Virginia; six grandchildren, Ricky James Daigle, Stephanie Ann Daigle, Ashley Marie Daigle, Anna Chaney Reed, Gabrielle Chaney and Shay Ducharme; and four great grandchildren, Rowdy Allen Daigle, Samson Daigle, Wyatt Daigle and Alyssa Daigle. Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Shirley Stelly Daigle, who passed away July 1, 2016; parents, Amos N. and Beulah Richard Daigle; sister, Aurora Daigle and four brothers, Joseph L. Daigle, Joseph B. Daigle, James M. Daigle and Grady Daigle. Joseph Cleveland Daigle was a dedicated and devoted husband, father, grand father, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. Born in Church Point, Louisiana on October 8, 1940 and a resident of Lafayette, he was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Church. In the courier industry, he was employed by U.P.S. as a truck driver for many years until his retirement. Our hearts are sad at the loss of our dear Joseph, though we are truly blessed with the time spent with him; he will be deeply missed. Serving as pallbearers will be Rowdy Daigle, Ricky Daigle, Raymond Reed, Cecil Emile Cormier, Shay Ducharme and Leroy Hebert. Fred Chaney will serve as Honorary pallbearer. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, May 17 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location. The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM Mass.
