Kenneth Daigle Obituary

Kenneth Paul Daigle died on January 18, 2017 surrounded by family following a courageous battle with cancer. Kenny was born on January 14, 1952 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a graduate of De La Salle High School and the University of New Orleans. After serving in the US Air Force as a pilot, Kenny enjoyed a lengthy and highly accomplished career as a securities broker for Merrill Lynch and later for Ahrens Investment Firm. Kenny had a great passion for life. He enjoyed being a member of the Krewe of Bacchus and the New Orleans Symphony Chorus. While residing in New Iberia, he shared his love for wine by owning and operating a fine wine boutique. Kenny had a lifelong love of flying and explored many places in his own airplanes. As a fearless pilot, he thought nothing of landing his plane on the beaches of Chandelier Island for an afternoon of fishing or striking out for more distant lands. As a resident of New Iberia, he commuted to New Orleans until his airplane suffered engine failure. As a skilled pilot, he successfully crash landed in the backyard of a fellow Iberia resident. From the age of seven, Kenny acted as a father to his two younger brothers and took great pride in their success. He was deeply devoted to his family, friends, and his Catholic faith. He is survived by the light of his life, his daughter, Annie Laurie Daigle, brothers Wayne Daigle, his wife, Anne, and their children, Austin, Olivia, and Gabrielle, Keith Daigle, his wife, Julie, and their children, Melissa and Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernande Sarthou and Sidney Irving Daigle and an infant sister, Mary. Family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of his life at the home of Wayne and Anne Daigle on Saturday, January 28 at 11:00 AM. Donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, St Jude's Research Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Personal condolences may be sent to the Daigle family at www.delhommefuneralhome.com. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Dear Annie Laurie, Wayne & Anne, The Daigle Family, especially Aunt Marie:

Annie Laurie: I have known your Dad over the last 37 years. I also, grew-up in West Monroe(Northeast) Louisiana during the late 1950-ties and early '60-ties among Members of the Daigle Family in Saint Paschal's Catholic Church and Parocial School. Those were Grandfather SID & Marie's AUNT VELMA, Dr. Steve Daigle, M.D. with his children Sharon and Bruce Daigle - one of my childhood "best friends."

Annie Laurie, during the time I knew Your Father, we were peers, competitors and good friends. Ken's keen mind bordered on "genius" - i think. His Wit kept me humble and laughing, at Myself.

Kenny's Gifts are Many. May YOU & ALL The Daigle Family be Consoled by His Love, for You.

Respectfully and Sincere,
Francis Landreaux

I knew Kenneth for only a short time as I was living in Rome and would come home occasionally to visit my father and his wife, who was Kenneth's mother-in-law. He was charming and made me always feel at ease. May you rest in peace, Kenneth.

He was a great cousin and a true warrior. His spirit was truly amazing and GOD bestowed his blessings through his disease. His disease enlightened my spirit and was glad I was able to be part of his journey through his darkness. I truly will miss his daily text messages that were filled with hope, love, and compassion. Thanks goes out to Anne, whom made a commitment to help him through his death process. Also, his brothers and prayer support group whom he truly loved. Each gave him the support and showed their love for him. Kenny lived an amazing life. Lake Tahoe was truly where his peace was found. Truly, I will miss him.
