Sylvia Trahan Obituary

Sylvia Romero Trahan, age 70, passed away 30th of December 2020 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was a loving and devoted wife to Glen Anthony Trahan for over 51 years. They were blessed to have five children and eleven grandchildren. Sylvia loved spending time with family. She spent her time finding moments to bring them together. Whether intimate dinners or a large family gathering, she was in no happier place than to be with her children, their spouses, and grandchildren. Sylvia was a fearless woman that lived a life of service. She traveled in prayer with the Lord, Jesus Christ, and valued time spent daily with Him. She spent her life serving God and pointing others to Him. She wanted people to experience the goodness of God. She was an encourager. She was intentional. She met you where you were, no matter how high or how low, she held you and let you know that she loves you, but more importantly, that Jesus loves you. His love would never fail you nor forsake you. She wanted nothing more than people to know Him. Sylvia met her husband, Glen, in Lafayette. Last year, they celebrated their golden anniversary; fifty years of marriage. They were so proud of the life they built together and the fulfillment of a prayer, that all their children would come to know Jesus Christ and live their life for Him. A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Sylvia attended Northside High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Trahan, and her parents, Verman Joseph and Lou Ella Hulin Romero, of Lafayette. She is survived by her children; Wade, his wife Rachel and two sons- Zachary and Benjamin- of Lafayette; Damon, his wife Erica and two sons- Grayson and Parker- of Lafayette; Heather, her husband Brandon Bergeron and four children- Trevor and (his wife) Bailey; Ashlyn and (her husband) Joseph Dailey; Joshua, and Addison - of Crowley; Amber (pregnant with child), her husband Keith Heels - of Lafayette; and Casey, his wife Shaina and two daughters Emmarie, and Elizabeth - of Lafayette. A 'Celebration of Life' Ceremony will be held for both Glen and Sylvia Trahan at 2:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, 16th of January 2021, at Family Life Church Lafayette, 2223 Dulles Drive, Lafayette, LA 70506. Sylvia was my best friend for 0ver 30 years. She always listened and prayed when I called to talk about serious issues or about the weather. Her famous words....Oh well taco bell!!!!. She made me laugh even when She was sick. Once we layed hands on a small bowl of tuna fish and a half loaf of bread and God miraculously multiplied that to feed 6 kids and two adults with tuna left in the bowl. That was a 6 oz can of tuna! Only God could multiply the tuna and bread. We all ate till we were full and to our amazement we had enough tuna fish left for 2 more sandwiches. Through that God fed, Damon, Heather, Amber and Casey plus Nick and Jessica and me and Sylvia. I will never forget that day.

Ohhh momma Sylvia, how I will miss you! You took me in as one of yours. You have been one of my greatest encouragers even up through this last hospital stay. My kids took the news just like it was one of their grandparents that we lost. We love you so much!! Until we meet again....
