Genelzia Thomas

Ms. Genelzia Thomas, 94, formally of Blytheville, Arkansas, passed away June 8, 2025, at Orchards in Wayne Michigan. She was born November 5, 1930, to the late George Stringer and Katherine Stringer. Ms. Thomas was a retired school cook for the Blytheville School District where she worked for 35 years. She was preceded in death by both her parents; Four brothers, George Stringer Jr., Charles Stringer, Wallace Stringer Sr., Marzell Stringer; and four sisters, Selma Mitchell, Geraldine Stringer, Mildred Aldridge, Ernestine Metcalf. Ms. Thomas was a founding member of New Bethel Baptist Church where Reverend Mitchell presided, she served as a treasurer of the Benevolent Fund Group and was Co-Captain of the Sunshine Band and the Red Circle Girls, former president of the Pastor Love Committee, she was an active member of serval ministries including the Matrons Missionaries, the Poor Sainte Office and choir member until she retired in 2005. Ms. Thomas is survived by two sons, Miller (Carman) Thomas of Holt, Michigan and Danny (Gladys) Thomas of Blytheville, Arkansas; three daughters, Vernell (Trenton) Burton of Easter, Michigan, Jamie (Johnny) Benton Hotfield of Easter, Michigan, and Mary (Charles) Carrington of Wayne, Michigan; 14 Grandchildren, 40 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great-great Grandchildren. Visitation will take place at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday June 21,2025 at 9:30AM to 10:30AM with the funeral following at 10:30AM with Rev. Howard Smith officiating and Rev. Johnny Williams eulogy. Burial will take place at New Hope Cemetery in Yarbro, Arkansas. Wilson Funeral Home of Blytheville will be in charge of these services.
