William Parker Obituary

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch William "Bill" Edward Parker, Jr., 81, of Olive Branch, MS passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Memphis Memorial Gardens in Bartlett, TN. Rev. Kerry Powell of Maples Memorial United Methodist Church will officiate. Bill was born on May 18, 1944 in Memphis, TN to Virginia Walker Mills and William Edward Parker, Sr. Bill graduated from Memphis State University with a Master's degree in electrical engineering. After graduating, he taught electronics classes at Memphis State Tech. Bill was employed at the GE Memphis Lamp Plant for 37 years. He was a licensed Master Electrician and a member of the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service. Bill was passionate about car races and antique car shows. He also volunteered to transport veterans to the VA hospital for appointments. Bill was a member of Getwell Church in Southaven, MS and participated in building homes for Habitat for Humanity. Even though he wasn't the biggest fan of traveling, he did travel extensively with his wife, Glenda. Bill was also a great dancer. He was part of the Southaven Forever Young Senior Center and the Memphis Bop Club. Left to cherish Bill's memory is his wife, Glenda Parker of Olive Branch; daughter, Cherie Bradley (Tom) of Nesbit, MS; sons, Gene Parker (Annessa) of Jonesboro, AR and Scott Parker (Ashley) of Hernando, MS; eight grandchildren, Blake, Madison, Mallori, Evan, Ella, Elaina, Riley, and Baxton; nine great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Angela and Laura. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Walker Mills; father, William Edward Parker, Sr.; and, sister, Emily Davis. In lieu of traditional flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill's honor to The Salvation Army (www.salvationarmyusa.org).
