Anthony Mullin Obituary

Anthony Paul Mullin, 58, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away on Dec. 4, 2017, after valiantly battling cancer for the past three years. A celebration of life was held to commemorate his life well lived.
Tony was born on Fort Richardson on Sept. 30, 1959. He graduated from Westfield High School in N.J., received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Rutgers University, a Masters of Engineering from the University of Maine, and a Ph.D. Engineering from the University of Alaska while battling cancer. Tony was married to Laura Mullin (Nepshinsky), his wife and best friend for 34 years. Together they inspired each other to climb the highest mountains, dive the deepest seas and run the toughest runs, across the globe. Tony lived life to the fullest always with Laura at his side.
Tony lived his life with a passion for the outdoors, a thirst for knowledge and a desire to make a difference in peoples' lives. He worked as an Engineering professor at UAA in recent years, and as an Engineer for manufacturing firms prior to moving back to Alaska seven years ago. Tony enjoyed running, biking, motorcycle riding, kayaking and playing with his furry four-legged family members.
Tony is survived by his wife, Laura; sister, Christine Ann Mockli (Mullin); brother, Daniel Edward Mullin; and father, William Edward Mullin; his in-laws, Dale (Nepshinsky) and Phil Schifano and Rocky Nepshinsky; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dorothy and John Nepshinsky; his nieces and nephew; and the rest of his family and friends.
Tony is preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline Ann Mullin.
The family has established The Anthony Mullin Engineering Scholarship at The University of Alaska Anchorage to honor and memorialize Tony's passion for teaching. Contributions to the fund can be made by writing a check payable to the UA Foundation and writing "Anthony Mullin Engineering Scholarship" on the check memo line. Mail the check to UA Foundation, 1815 Bragaw Street, Suite 203, Anchorage, AK 99508; or online at http://greenandgold.uaa.alaska.edu/give/. In the "tell us about your gift" box, please write College of Engineering, Anthony Mullin Engineering Scholarship.
