I just saw Art's obituary, over a decade after his passing. He was my supervisor at Green Hill School, a corrections facility in Chehalis, WA. He was a fair and strong man, yet so understanding and kind. I learned many things from Art, I swear he knew something about everything. Rest in peace, Art. I hope you have a cigar in your mouth, your boots finally kicked off, and riding on your Harley. God's blessings to you and your family.

I knew Art Schmidt from the days of Division of Corrections. We talked on the phone a lot over time accounting (along with Sgt. Bonnie Campbell if anyone still remembers her). It was surprising that when we met in person, he proves to be very gracious and friendly despite of the vast difference in our ranks. He proves to be a good and honorable person and my deepest condolences to his family on his day of departure to the Heavenly Gates. World lost a good man.

Art will be missed by so many. In my days in Alaska, Art became one of my best friends. Hunting, fishing, flying, or just commiserating at home, Art's humor, decency, and gentle nature was ubiquitous. My heartfelt condolences go out to Jackie, Joey, Susan, Jenny, Jason and all of his grandkids.

Beautiful words for an amazing man. We were diagnosed w/ cancer & went thru radiation at the same time. It is very hard to see him go, but know he is without pain now. He leaves an amazing legacy in his family. I support & uplift you daily in prayer.

What a beautiful man...I am thankful for the time I had getting to know him. A month ago he sent me a text telling me how much he appreciated Ahmik and me. Thoughtful to the end...thank you Art for shining your beautiful light!
