Betty Ray Obituary

Mrs. Betty Y. Ray, age 92, of Mocking Bird Lane Blairsville passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 20, 2015 following an extended illness. Betty was born on July 15, 1923 to the late Charles J. and Nina Smith York. She had lived in the area for the past twenty years after moving from Port Richey, Florida. Betty was of the Protestant faith. Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Claudia Ray, four brothers, Gene, Claude, Bernard and Willard York, and one sister, Pearl York.
Mrs. Ray is survived by two daughters, Betty Sue Loflin, of Blairsville, Georgia and Jacquelyn and George Law, of Miramar Beach, Florida. Five Grandchildren and their spouses, Jackie and Eric Cleveland, Daby Loflin, Buck and Carrie Law, Charlie and Amy Law, Suzanne and Andy Rubin. Twelve Great Grandchildren also survive.
Betty loved quilting and has made each child and grandchild a quilt that will be cherished for generations to come. She loved cooking for her family and friends and had a passion for all living things especially her pets and was surrounded by them for her whole life.
A memorial service for Mrs. Ray will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Homestead Hospice at 97 Deep South Farm Road, Blairsville, Georgia 30512 or Union County Humane Society Mountain Shelter at 129 Bowling Gap Circle, Blairsville, Georgia 30512 in memory of Mrs. Betty Ray.
