Boyd, or Zoid as we all knew him by here in the upper Midwest was an incredible stage presence. If you never had the opportunity to see him live, you missed an incredible musician.I am speaking about his days with The...Vers. He played at a rock club here in my hometown called The Circle Lounge. I was with a radio station that advertised for the club and I did the voiceover for the club and often times got to work with the bands and the ads that ran for the shows. I got to know Zoid from those dates and the rest of the band. i reconnected with him for a short time thanks to the magic of Facebook and appreciated the conversations we had at that time. The world lost another incredible talent with the passing of Boyd "Zoid" Williamson. Rock in peace, kind sir.

Great guy and his band "The...Vers" was legendary in the Midwest. I'll always remember Boyd (dressed as Zoid Asteroid Machine) with knee pads, hair done up like a Star Trek alien, sliding across the stage on his knees and standing on top of his amp like a rock god playing his Fender Mustang or Dean V guitars. Still one of the best live acts I've ever seen and one of my best memories from college. I emailed him years later to purchase a CD, and he was a super nice guy and we reminisced about the good old days. It so happened I was at The...VERS last ever show in Iowa City. Boyd, I'm glad our paths crossed (even if only briefly). I hope you're in a good place now and thanks for all the memories! If anyone ever deserved to be a rock star - it was you!

I still think of you often, Boyd. It is sad that the world has to be without you and your talent.

Buzzy was my best friend and cousin. Our favorite times were playing our Mousekateer guitars together. Miss you, Kris

Thanks, Boyd! I will miss our conversations!

I first met Boyd back in 1975 when Yancy Derringer was playing at the Naval Base in Great Lakes. He was extremely nice to me, took the time to show me how to play songs like, "Bridges" and "Pass The Wine" and never was too busy to talk about guitars, amps and music. I lost track of Boyd for many years until about a year ago. He always responded to my emails and it was like we never stopped talking guitars, amps and music. I sent him an email a few weeks ago and didn't get a response. Today, I got a sinking feeling and decided to do a Google search and found this obituary. Boyd, thank you so much for showing me how a musician SHOULD act around fans. Thank you for your influence on my guitar playing. Thank you for your sense of humor and mostly, thank you for just being a kind human being. I will never forget your influence and will never forget you. Sleep peaceful, Boyd...
