Caleb James Roberson, age 22, of Hot Springs, S.D., died on March 5, 2015, at Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs. Caleb James was born on March 2, 1993, in Anchorage, Alaska. Caleb was the son of David Roberson of Anchorage and Stacie Roberson of Hot Springs. He attended Trailside Elementary, Hanshew Middle School and graduated from Service High School in 2011. Caleb worked for Unitech of Alaska as a warehouseman. He apprenticed with the kind guidance of a 76-year-old man at Jungle Jim's as a flooring installer which he enjoyed greatly. He learned a lot from his boss both on a business and personal level. Caleb moved to Gillette, Wyo., in 2013, to pursue school possibilities and establish friendships with his cousins who lived there at the time. In 2014, Caleb joined his mother, Stacie in Hot Springs, S.D. Caleb started working at the Hot Springs School District as the "lunch man", for his aunt, Maranda Wilson, a job he enjoyed. Caleb began working full time for John Konrad at JP's Family Dining as a cook and server where he made some amazing friends. While cooking, Caleb would belt out Frank Sinatra which his customers really enjoyed. He was blessed to work with his cousin, Krysten Wilson, and also have her as a next door neighbor in his brand new apartment of several weeks. Prior to getting his apartment, he and his cousin Oliver Jr. lived together and were best of friends and their love and respect for each other grew stronger every day. They shared a love of music and began to sing and rehearse with Caleb's uncles a song for Easter service at church to surprise his grandmother Carol in remembrance of his grandfather Oliver who passed in August. This past Christmas, Caleb ventured back to Alaska, to spend time with his father David, David's wife Marti, his younger brother Mason, 7, and his many good friends. Caleb had the opportunity to spend time with all his Alaska friends and family doing things he enjoyed. Caleb immensely loved the outdoors and spent time hiking, camping, four wheeling and sightseeing in the Black Hills. Caleb was an avid reader and most enjoyed books about science, biographies and anything by Stephen King. He loved just hanging out with his friends and cousins whenever he wasn't working. Laughter and playing video games was part of Caleb's way to relax and have fun. Caleb had a tremendous heart for animals, especially his dogs, Scooter, Molly and Cascha. Caleb was to begin paramedic school at Western Dakota Technical Institute next semester. He had a deep calling to help people and make a difference. Caleb's last day was spent with laughter and anticipating a first date that evening. He was blessed to be surrounded by his friend and cousin Krysten in his last moments.
