Carol Thomas

Former Alaska resident Carol Ann Thomas, 68, died Nov. 10, 2008, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash.
Carol was born Dec. 7, 1939, in New Castle, Pa., to John and Shirley Kinda.
At the age of 13, she moved to Alaska with her family to homestead in Moose Pass. On Jan. 19, 1969, Carol married the love of her life, Bruce LeMay Thomas, with whom she is now reunited. Together they raised seven wonderful children in Anchorage.
"Carol was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother," her family wrote. "Her passions included family gatherings, bowling, gardening, knitting and the slots! In 1979, Carol and Bruce moved the family to Spokane, where they created a home of comfort and warmth that continued to bring the entire family together year after year. For more than a decade, she touched the lives of many while working for East Valley High School. The students became like her children. After her many devoted years, Carol retired from the school district. After retirement, she continued to enjoy her numerous hobbies, cherishing the time with her soul mate of 36 years as well as building memories with her family.
"Our memories together have been amazing (mom, grandma, Carol). Our lives will never be the same without (her). (She) will be so deeply missed!"
Carol is survived by her seven devoted children, Jeff, Bob, Suzie, Debbie, Dawn, David and Bruce Jr.; grandchildren, Cassi L., Jessica, Chris, Ryan, Ashley, Joshua, David Jr., Jami, William, Brittney, Ricki, Chelsie, Stevie, Jordyn, Alia and Cassie R.; siblings, Charles Johnson and Patti Doyle; father, John Kinda; as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her greatest love, Bruce Thomas; her beloved mother, Shirley Kinda; and her dear sister, Sandi Dye.
