Donna Asher Obituary

Donna Asher was born to Murval and Emma Thompson in Friend, Neb., on Oct. 7, 1945. She met Jim Asher, the love of her life and husband of 51 years, at a high school prom in Logan, Iowa. Jim and Donna married and Jim was drafted into the U.S. Army. After serving a tour in Germany they moved to Canon City, Colo., and acquired their first of three pharmacies. Jim and Donna continued their careers in pharmacy: Jim as the owner pharmacist, and Donna as the accountant, administrator and pharmacy technician.
Jim and Donna sold their pharmacies and relocated to Alaska, where Jim served as a pharmacist in Glennallen. In 2010, they moved to Eagle River, Alaska, in retirement. Donna was always active in the churches and community service organizations where she lived. Donna was a valued member of the Eagle River Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon.
Donna is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Dawn (Asher) Appleby and her husband Michael; son, Bryan Asher and his wife Tammy; three grandchildren, Kirsten Asher, Brandon Asher and Michael Appleby; two great-grandchildren, Corey and Brady Appleby; and their relatives in Nebraska and Iowa.
A Funeral Service for Donna is scheduled for Jan. 31, 2019, at 4 p.m., at the Eagle River Presbyterian Church, 12836 Old Glenn Highway in Eagle River. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
