Doris Maxim Obituary

Doris Jean Maxim, 61, died April 8, 2009, at home with her loving family by her side.
At her request there will be no funeral. Instead there will be a celebration of her life at the family picnic, tentatively scheduled for July 18, 2009.
She was born March 18, 1948, in Riverside, Calif., the daughter of the late William A. Wells and Mamie R. Felmley.
Doris recently retired from the United Food and Commercial Workers Union where she had been employed for 12 years. She was recently baptized and was a member of Well Spring Ministries.
Doris was very active in breast cancer awareness fund-raising and numerous other charities. Doris was an avid bicyclist and a bowler. She enjoyed playing golf and traveling with her honey, Bob.
She was the beloved wife of Robert Maxim and loving mother to Kimberly Shapsnikoff (Gus Looby) and Sean Sanders, both of Anchorage, and Dawn Sanders of Florida; and loving stepmother to Beau (Danielle), Walter, Christopher, Mike and Joyce Maxim and Gale Beagle.
She will be sadly missed by her brother and sisters, Ray (Carolyn) Wells, Alice (Michael) Bertram and Linda Mackey. As a grandmother, she was loved by Suzi Green, Jazzmyne and Marina Shapsnikoff, Christopher, Nicholas and Chloe Sanders and Gene Godwin. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her loving son-in-law, Robert Shapsnikoff; as well as her stepfather, Orrin Felmley.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Riggs family and to Susan Sanders and Vicky Kindseth for the love and kindness shown to all throughout this difficult time. Thank you to the many people who have stopped by, sent cards and kept us all in their thoughts and prayers.

Bob and family,
We were so happy to have Doris as a member of our family when her mom Mamie, married Denny's step-father, Orrin Felmley. She was a joy as a step-sister, loving, kind and fun. We will deeply miss her and our trips to Anchorage will never be the same again.
We pray for the family.
