Floyd L. Judd

1930 - 2015

Floyd L. Judd, age 85, of Vonore, Tenn., formerly of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away at 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, Feb., 21, 2015, at John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville, N.C. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Madisonville, Tenn., and a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force during 1950-1954. Mr. Judd worked for the F.A.A. for 31 years and drove for Gentry Trailways in Knoxville, Tenn. He was a member of the Gideon's International since 1968 and had several hobbies, included engraving and fishing. Mr. Judd is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. "Dot" Judd; daughter and son-in-law, Karen Judd Meyers and Michael Meyers of Mesa, Ariz.; sons and daughters-in-law, Matt and Lisa Judd of Richmond, Va., and Mark and Debbie Judd of Asheville, N.C.; grandchildren and spouses, Tami Judd Hux and Bryan Hux, Justin Judd, John Judd Jr., Sarah Judd Wade and Bryan Wade and Courtney Judd; great-grandchildren, Jessica Judd, Anna Beth Hux and Sadie Wade; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Vera Clymore, Audrey Fuser and Norma Bankhead; and brothers, Raymond and Monroe Judd. A Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Madisonville, with Dr. Lon Shoopman officiating. Interment will be at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens, with military honors provided by V.F.W. Post #5156 and D.A.V. #93. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Gideons of Monroe County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideons or to Care Partners Health Services, John Keever Jr. Solace Center, 21 Belvedere Rd., Asheville, NC 28803.
