You were a great man and are missed by many.
So glad you were able to live a rich life right to the end! Such as going to the Palmer State Fair with Paul just two days before you were hospitalized, getting down to the fish camp and overnighting at Clam Gulch with the crew in July, going on the Alaska Honor Flight as a veteran in April, and vacationing at one on your favorite spots in Kappa, Hawaii with your daughters Joan and Linda and Ananda in February!
You are a great example of how to take life's changes in stride and continue to live a rich and meaningful life. Thank you for so much!
Your loving daughter,
Darlene Sambo Dorough

So sorry for your loss, Joan. I'll never forget the day he dropped us off at the Fireweed theater to see Love Story. When he returned to pick us up, we didn't want to get in the car because he didn't look at all like your father -- he had shaved his beard! It took some time to recognize him. Once you recognized him, we all piled in the blue station wagon and laughed at ourselves.

Had a really nice visit with Uncle Fred last year in Alaska. He enjoyed sharing the history of family and Anchorage with us. He will be missed. My Mom was one of his biggest fans. May He Rest In Peace.

The most FRED-like comment I heard Fred say was "Doner, quit your bellyaching and go set your nets". We had just pulled them and Fred told us we were re- opened. Thank you, Fred.

I taught with Fred in the 70's. I remember him as a good man, modest and unassuming.
I am sorry for your lose.
