Jacqueline Brownlee Obituary

Jacqueline "Jackie" Ann Brownlee, 69, died Nov. 20, at her home in Anchorage.

A service was Wednesday at Christ Church Episcopal.

Jackie was born May 14, 1940, in Maumee, Ohio.

She moved from Minnesota to Alaska 21 years ago, and she considered Alaska her home.

She worked and retired from AAA, where she was a travel associate. More recently, she worked part-time during the summers for Gray Line and Princess Tours.

Jackie loved to travel and visited a great many places in Alaska, Australia and Canada. Most recently, she returned from a cruise to the Scandinavian countries.

She enjoyed water aerobics, her sorority and her church, Christ Church Episcopal.

Jackie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Adam Hills and their children, Steven and Mikey, of Pipestone, Minn.; her son, Ben "Skip" Brownlee and his children, Josh, Nicole and Ashley, of Toftee, Minn.; her sister, the Rev. Beverly Dexter of San Diego, Calif.; and many close friends.

Jackie was dearly loved and will be sorely missed forever.

My family met Jackie through AAA and quickly became friends. One of our best memories of Jackie was the day Jackie came to the house to visit and join us for dinner, she was met by our new Pomeranian Tucker who went absolutely nuts when Jackie walked in the door. It turned out that Tucker met Jackie early in his life (still a puppy) through his then owner being one of Jackie's neighbors. After that, all we had to do was mention Jackie's name and and Tucker was waiting at the door to go see his dear friend.
Jackie was there with a shoulder to cry on when we lost our parents in 1998. She stayed with our four-legged family members when we traveled. She was always willing to help if she was able and loved to just come and visit. Jackie will always be fondly remembered and never forgotten.

Mom,
I have been waiting for you to talk to me like your Dad did for years from the heavens above. I didn't think you were going to reach out to me..... You did. When you died, I saw the most beautiful Angel for you to rest in. About a month ago I started saying the Serenity Prayer for no known reason. Come to find out just a day or two ago, you were placed in that Angel that Skip and I picked out for you. It is titled the "Serenity Angel" after the prayer. My mom talks to me!!! Thank you mom, I have been waiting for you!!

Love you forever,

Jennifer

Jackie was my dearest friend for 10 years. We had many travels together and shared our lives nearly every day. I will miss her more than I can say. She had a kindness about her for all and a deep believe in the Heavenly Father with whom she now dwells. Bye, Jackie....

Although I didn't know her name, I knew her kindness. She was my neighbor and we used to say hello and chat a little in the elevator or in the parking garage. She always had a smile on her face and kind words to share. I was greatly saddened to hear of her passing and I am glad I was able to meet her children when they came to clear out her apartment. She will not be forgotten.
