Joe Ludvick Obituary

Joe Dean Ludvick, 37, of Sand Point in the Aleutian chain, died unexpectedly July 28, 2010, while commercial fishing at Acheredin Bay.

A service will be at 3 p.m. today at Sand Point Baptist Chapel. Steve Hakala will officiate.

Friends and family will celebrate his life with a potluck after the service at the QTT Community Building.

Joe was born April 27, 1973, in Anchorage.

He loved commercial fishing and his family most of all.

Joe most recently operated the family commercial fishing vessel Melanie Joann, on which he had grown up fishing with his family. He worked very hard fishing and enjoyed life to the fullest. He learned to scuba dive when he was young and was called on many times to help fishermen with lines or web stuck in their wheel. He had a gentle and kind heart, always had a smile for you and is loved by everyone.

Family was very important to Joe and he was a very good husband, father, son, brother and friend. Some of Joe's favorite things to do were hunting and fourwheeling with his son and friends.

Joe is survived by his wife, Kelly; his daughter, Alyssa; and his son, Joe; his father and mother, Joe and Janet Ludvick; his brother, Paul Ludvick; sister, Melanie Rotter and brother-in-law, John Rotter; his sister, Joanna Ludvick-McCallum; his sister, Tina Anderson and brother-in-law, Raymond Nutt; his aunt and uncle, Barbara and Frank Melseth; his aunt and uncle, Judy and Tim Phipps; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Patty Holmberg; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chris and Lucinda Holmberg; his niece, Ava Holmberg; his nephews, Dylan Gundersen, Jolan Rotter, Jonathan Rotter, Duston Ludvick and Christian Anderson-Nutt; and many cousins and friends who love and miss him very much.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lila and Art Skarsvog and Paul and Rose Ludvick; his aunts, Marina Carlson, Margaret Olinger, Angie Miller, Irene Puckett and Alice Strickland; and his uncles, Peter and Sonny Ludvick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kelly Ludvick and Family, P.O. Box 421, Sand Point, AK 99661.

Ode to a brother

A smile upon your face, always

Welcoming everyone, incessantly

Optimism and a upbeat axiom, consistently

Forever in our thoughts and memories, eternally

A great father, friend, and husband, everlastingly

God acknowledged this, he has accomplished his share of good deeds, thus

It was time, July 28, 2010, for him to graduate to look over us

We must celebrate our memories and our time with you,

God Speed, is not a soliloquy it is our truth we speak of you,

Joe Dean Ludvick

To the Ludvick Family; Although we have already signed your guest book we also wanted to let you know that we wanted to sponsor more time for your guest book to be online. I know from experience how much this guest book means to someone in grief. I can't tell you how many time I went back to re-read all the entries after my mom passed away. It made me as well as my father feel so much better to see all the love and support from everyone. Hugs to your beautiful family. You have the best of the angels watching over you now.
