John D. Klementson

1957 - 2016

John David Klementson passed away, at age of 58, in his sleep, with his mother at his side, at 12:45 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. John was born in Nome, Alaska, on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1957, to Ray and Mary Klementson. He loved being in the outdoors hunting, fishing and camping. He graduated West Anchorage High School in 1977. John was a truly gifted tradesman in his younger days: he worked as a welder, oiler, drill tender, mechanic, electrician, plumber and winchman. He worked in the drilling and mining industries. He was also a very talented Native artist: he sold a lot of his native arts and crafts to the Alaska Native Medical Center's Gift Shop. He is survived by his mother, Mary Klementson; brothers, James, Leland and Luther; sister-in-law, Nicki; nieces, Erica, Amy,Yvonne and Haley; and nephew, Thor Klementson. He also survived by his lifelong friend, Jim Luther, and countess other friends. He will forever be loved and missed. He is preceded in death by his father, Ray Klementson. Funeral services will be held on Jan. 21, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street in Anchorage, Alaska.
