I'm sorry to hear about John's passing. To say John was an interesting man would be an understatement. I know he will be missed by many, and I'm sure glad that I got a chance to know him.

Kathy, I am so sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the family. There are so many things that impressed me about your Dad. For example as hard as it was to get dressed he always wore a shirt,tie and jacket. He loved to visit and knew so many people and was so interested in them. He was a great man and will be missed by many. - but its time for him to be with Barb. Love and Prayers - Mary

Listen to the exhortation of the dawn!
Look to this day
For it is life, the very life of life.
In it's brief course lie all of the verities and realities of your existence.
The bliss of growth,
the glory of action,
the splendor of beauty;
For yesterday is but a dream,
and tomorrow is only a vision; but today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,and every tomorrow, a vision of hope.
Look well therefore to this day!
Such is the salutation of dawn! All of our love to you in Heaven and our wish for you to always shine down on us..Kathy and Jack Appolloni

I first met John when I was working at Access Alaska in 1982 - when I arrived in Anchorage. He was a great, caring, person. I am glad I had the opportunity to speak with him a few months ago.

My great grandfather was one of the most wonderful people I ever knew. He would do anything for anyone, and never asked you to return the favor. We've lost someone very special to our family, but heaven gained a greater angel.The best way to look at it is that my great grandfather left this world for a better one. He will be greatly missed by so many, especially us. RIP mine and drew's great grandfather, and aj's great great grandfather.

Grandpa, as my children and I knew him, was the kindest, most generous hearted man I knew. His concerns were for others and never for himself. He made sure that my family was OK long after he needed to. We loved him and will miss him every day.

I served with John on the board of Access Alaska. Access Alaska will deeply miss John's wisdom, experience and guidance. When it came to disability rights John displayed a gentle anger and resolve that commanded attention and got things done. The disability community will miss his advocacy and example. Alaska has lost another shining star. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, John always talked about you with great pride and love.

You are so right that Mr. Stripe had a glow about him and I loved the twinkle he had in his eyes. I first met Mr. Stripe in the early 1980's, when I worked at Assets and he was on the board. We kept in touch through mutual attendance at St.Patricks and through AnchorRIDES and People Mover where I now work. He was a wonderful man and I truly was glad to have known him. My sincere sympathy on your loss of such a delightful father and grandfather.
