Leonard Krise Obituary

Leonard Lyle Krise, 85, passed away on Dec. 10, 2016, at Alaska Regional Hospital due to complications from multiple health issues.
Leonard was born in Endicott, N.Y., on July 7, 1931, to Gervas and Anastasia Krise. He was the third of five children. The Krise family moved from Pennsylvania to Alaska in 1946 to homestead in Palmer, and Alaska became Leonard's lifetime home.
In 1952, Leonard married his college sweetheart, Wynona Cupp, in Texas, then brought her to Alaska, where they raised four children and enjoyed life as a family. Leonard was a Deacon and longtime member at First Baptist Church, Anchorage, and actively participated in the choir. He worked for many years as an Alaska State Trooper, but also was employed by Wackenhut Security, Zee Medical and Sam's Club.
Leonard's hobbies included small engine repair, serving as a song leader for several church missions and laughing over jokes shared with family and friends.
Leonard is survived by his four children, Wynona Albott of Myrtle Creek, Ore., Terry Krise of Louisville, Ky., Peggy Krise of Anchorage, and Cindy Rhinesmith of Florence, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Priscilla Bickel of Spring, Texas, and Lowell Krise of Eugene, Ore.; along with many other relatives.
Leonard will be laid to rest at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery next to his beloved wife, Wynona, who preceded him in death.
Instead of providing flowers, the family requests that donations for funeral expenses be sent to the following account: gofundme.com/leonard-krise-burial-fund.
Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.

Though Leonard has been gone for several years, his loving memory lives on at legacy.com and in my mind. I first began to recognize him when he worked at Sam´s Club. He always had a warm greeting and was tremendously helpful. Only when I read his obituary did I learn of his amazing life of service to others. Even though we weren´t close, my life is better for knowing Leonard. I really miss him.

From time to time, we all meet someone special, who makes you feel good inside and aspire to carry some of that person's kind demeanor along for yourself. Leonard was such a man. I think of him every so often as I recall my visits to Sam's Club where he worked. Many years ago, I began saving obituaries and articles about noteworthy accomplishments of friends and acquaintances. Every so often I enjoy getting them out and reading several, to remember the good times when I was with them or knew them. Seeing the way Leonard approached his work at Sam's Club made quite an impression on me. I would be very pleased to be seen as having some of Leonard's attributes. He certainly gave a lot of himself to many, and I so respect him.

Dear Leonard,
I hope you know how much of a difference you made in everyone's lives. You were a joy to talk to and to work with. I remember when I'd see you with your sweet wife and when I'd talk with you two, I'd wish to one day be so in love like the two of you were. What a sweet couple. I also loved when you and my Grandpa would share stories of when you were both in Law Enforcement. You could brighten anyone's day or even week. God gained another angel and I'm sure you and Wynona are just entertaining everyone in Heaven and making everyone laugh and smile like you did here on Earth. Your jokes, your smile, your kind words and your wisdom will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family & loved ones during this difficult time. You are gone but never forgotten dear Leonard.

Leonard was such a wonderful person to be around at work. He always made jokes to lighten the mood and cared so much for people and their well being. He was always more than happy to help someone in need even when it wasn't his job and never complained once. A very amazing and positive person to be around.

To the Krise Family,

Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. We first became aware of Leonard during visits to our nearby Sam's Club, where he worked, apparently just to stay busy. We'd see him out on the floor and we found we could always count on his having something nice to say, not just to us, but to everyone he met. He would always willingly interrupt whatever he was doing, with a smile, to help us find our shopping items in the store. We barely knew Leonard beyond Sam's Club, but a few times our paths crossed elsewhere at church, with mutual friends in a restaurant for coffee, or elsewhere. But, since Leonard was pretty quiet into those settings, and without the Sam's Club, context, we didn't realize he was the same nice fellow we were always glad to see there. And, it wasn't until we read his obituary that the lights finally went on' for us and we made those various connections. Leonard was a wonderful man of many accomplishments and we enjoyed reading about several them. We appreciate his sacrifices in serving as an Alaska State Trooper. Even though we couldn't imagine the gentle Leonard we knew, exuding the stern demeanor required of Troopers during challenging assignments, the fact that he served us for many years in that job, makes it clear that he certainly must've mastered that skill. In addition to raising a nice family with his devoted wife, it was inspiring to read that among all his activities, he also made time in his life to be very active in his church. We are so pleased that we got to know Leonard, if only a little bit and for just a few years. We will certainly honor him with our fondest thoughts and memories.

The Stickneys,
Roger & Michele

Leonard was a wonderful courier for SK Beecham labs and would bring us treats that Wyona would make. A favorite was her friendship bread. He was a warm and friendly person that loved the Lord. I know he's singing Gods praises today. May God comfort his children and loved ones.

Leonard and I worked together when stationed in Ketchikan in 1971 ~ 1973. Leonard was our Judicial Services Officer. Leonard was a fine man/Trooper and well liked by his associates assigned to the Ketchikan Post. Rest In Peace Leonard, you have served your final shift, in service to your fellow mortal man. Enjoy the comforts you have earned in the after life. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your loving family.

R.I.P. Leonard. We attended the same trooper academy together in Anchorage, fall of 1967. After that our carrers never crossed paths again, being stationed at opposite ends of the state. 85 yrs, prominent in your church, raised 4 children, says you had a long & rewarding life. Thought are with his family ......
