Michael Townsend Obituary

Michael Townsend, 69, of Kenai, Alaska, passed away on June 21, 2016. He was born on June 15, 1947, to the late Harlin Townsend and Juanita McMullen, in Roseburg, Ore. He was a long time resident of Alaska, residing in Anchorage and Kenai, where he spent the remainder of his life doing what he loved: walking along the beach with his fishing pole and faithful dog "Buddy." Michael was part of a 12-step program and devoted his life to helping others. He loved his country and was a United States Army Veteran. Michael is survived by a number of children, grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends. Memorial Services will be held on July 2, 2016, at 4 p.m., at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. Interment Services will be held on July 5, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Richardson. Mike was such a soft, gentle and kind man. I met him through some other folks at St Mary's in Anchorage, late 1980s / early 1990s. My condolences to the family. Love and miss you Mike.

Mike was such an unforgettable, hardworking person - constantly lighting the way for others in recovery. Those who know his life's story are aware of the many challenges he surmounted. His kindness, patience, and generosity were boundless. He coped well with very difficult chronic health conditions. Michael Townsend will be deeply missed!
