FUNERAL HOME

Nancy Morgan Obituary

Longtime Alaskan, Nancy Lorraine Morgan passed away on Tuesday, March 12th at home in Anchorage with her family by her side. A funeral mass to celebrate her passing will be held at St. Patrick's Parish, 2111 Muldoon Road on Monday, March 18th at 2:00 p.m.

Nancy was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, September 6th, 1952, to the U.S. Army family of Richard and Lorraine Morgan. The family moved often throughout the country including a move to Alaska in the late 1950's. She returned to Alaska in 1980 and worked as a health educator at the Anchorage Health Department, a social worker for Alaska Cares helping abused children and as a trainer for the University of Alaska Family and Youth Training Academy.

She married Bill Brickley in 1985 and their shared love of what Alaska offers kept them active and enjoying the outdoors. They were blessed with many years of hiking, skiing, and camping in the mountains, kayaking in the waters and spending time at their cabin in Homer with their daughter Katie. When time allowed you could always count on finding Nancy in her sewing room working on her latest quilt or fabric project. Most of her work was for gifts to family and friends. She was a constant quilter.

Her strong faith in God, high moral values and her belief in what was right and beautiful in this world guided her life. She was unconditionally devoted to her family, committed to her friends and spent her work life helping others.

She was preceded in death by her mother Lorraine and is survived by her husband Bill and daughter Katie; her father Richard; brothers Jim, John, and Dan; sisters Mary and Retha, along with many nieces and nephews. Her family would like to thank the many friends, supporters, and providers who helped and comforted Nancy throughout this past year. The generous support of all those who helped her through the final journey of life validates her belief in the good of mankind.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions in Nancy's memory be made to support the development to The Cloister at St. Patrick's Parish.

To Nancy, a deep and wonderful person.
I am so glad you chose to be a part of our lives.
And to my amazing brother and niece:

May the roads rise to meet you.
May the wind be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
The rain fall soft upon your fields.
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Words are so inadequate at a time like this. There is very little that can be said to ease your pain, sorrow and heartbreak. Nancy was an incredible woman and we feel blessed to have known her. We first met when we were visiting a preschool in the late 1980's with our little princesses. Our daughters became childhood friends and added a third little princess to form "The Three Musketeers". There are lots of happy memories of birthday parties and sleepovers! Bill and Katie, we are so very sorry for your loss. We will always remember the sparkle in Nancy's eyes and her infectious laugh and she will forever hold a special place in our hearts! I will miss our random visits at the grocery store and Costco. We hope all your beautiful memories of happier times serve as a comfort to you both during this sad and difficult time. Our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy go out to you and the rest of Nancy's family.
Love, Candy, Dorothy and Ron
