Nick Berestoff Obituary

Life long Alaskan Nick Neil Berestoff Sr., 75, passed away on Dec. 8, 2015, at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Assisted Living in Anchorage, Alaska. Services will be held at noon on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at St. Innocent Cathedral, 401 Turpin St. in Anchorage. The Very Rev. Archpriest John Zabinko will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. - noon at the church. Burial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at the Church of the Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary Cemetery in Kenai, Alaska. Casketbearers will be Erik Berestoff, Carl Carlough, Josh Melovedoff, Brent Waterbury and Doolie Albert Simeonoff. Alternative Casketbearers will be Guy Frank Berestoff Jr., Justin Sam, Dustin Berestoff and Nicholas Wilson. Nick was born on Sept. 9, 1940, in Ouzinkie, Alaska. He was a member of the Russian Orthodox faith. Nick loved to play bingo and go fishing. His family wrote: "He loved everything about living the subsistence way, loved taking drives out on the road, playing bingo and his guitar and going dancing at the Moose Lodge." Nick is survived by his children, Frank and his wife, Mary Berestoff of Anchorage, Nicky Berestoff of Kodiak, Alaska, Diana and her husband, Albert Simeonoff of Akhiok, Alaska, Ernie and his wife, Edna Berestoff of Anchorage, Ruth and her son, Cody of Texas, and Thomas and his wife, Liz Berestoff of Soldotna, Alaska; many grandkids; and many nieces and nephews. Nick is preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Gertrude. Arrangements entrusted to Alaska Cook Inlet Funeral Services.
