Norma Medel

Long time Anchorage resident Norma S. Medel died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 10, 2012. She was 83 years old and suffered from Alzheimer's.

She is survived by her husband Lucas Sr., her children, Reynaldo Medel, Carmen Rivera, Leonardo Medel, Leonora Tan, Alexander Medel and Lucas Medel Jr. She has 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She has family in Anchorage, Norway, California, Canada, Philippines and New York. Norma is preceded in death by her parents Vitaliano Sr. and Gregoria Sta. Maria, her eldest son Reynaldo Medel, son-in-law Jesus and grandsons Lindsey and Teodorico.

Norma was born in Manila, Philippines where she graduated high school. She came to Anchorage in 1990 with her husband and granddaughter, Carmina Rivera-Leal also of Anchorage. She was a loving mother, sister, wife and grandmother. She loved to sing, dance, cook and care for her family especially her grandchildren whom she adored.

She was a member of the El Shaddai Church group. She was friendly, had a great sense of humor and was a socialite who thru friends and family, will always be remembered as kind, generous, soft spoken and good hearted. Although she will be truly missed, we know she's in a better place with our Father, Almighty.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Kehl's Legacy Funeral Home at 11621 Old Seward Highway, Anchorage, AK 99515. A funeral mass will be at 11a.m., Saturday, February 18th at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2901 E. Huffman Rd, Anchorage.
