I shared a locker with Peter at Mears Jr. High, and went to Dimond Hogh with him as well. He was such a great artist, and his laugh...oh man, what a huge laugh he had! So joyful and full of life he was. We were good friends for a brief few years in school. It sucks I read that he is gone so soon. I didnt know him after school, but sounds like he continued to be a solid guy. RIP Peter., we will laugh again one day bud!... Joe Purvis.

The phrase “Jack of all trades, master of none” could never apply to Peter Porath. I will always remember Pete as putting his all into everything he did, doing nothing half-way, not even when he was a child and lost his temper. Peter worked hard to successfully overcome this by developing tolerance and patience which resulted in him being called a “gentle giant” by many. Peter became a master fisherman, master teacher, master coach, master chef, and a master urban farmer whose poultry expertise was sought by people near and far. His love of history made him a master in the field of ancient and modern history. Peter's greatest accomplishments were being a master son, brother, husband, father, cousin, nephew, and friend. The world needs more people who do what is right because it is the right thing to do, and who will be as good of a role model as Peter Leas Porath was. He is (and will continue to be) deeply loved and missed.

Sending our thoughts and prayers to family and friends, through this trying time of loss. We became aquainted with Pete when chickens entered our lives over two years ago. He will be remembered to us as the gentle giant, who knew the answer to everything poultry. Who allowed us to invade his privacy and weekend, to come directly to their home/farm when we ended up with roosters, twice. He will truely be missed by all who's lives he touched.

Sherry, Dale and family - so sorry to hear of Peter's death. We knew him as a very young man with a ready smile and willingness to be an active part of a growing church. Lost touch with him when he went to Concordia and became a teacher, but it sounds like our Lords hand touched him and he was a positive influence in a lot of young peoples lives - what a wonderful legacy to leave. My the wonderful God that took Peter home be with all of you in your grief, knowing that Peter is surrounded by angels and saints.

Blessings, Al & Lois Basler

Please accept my deepest sympathies. All of us grieve the loss of our loved one to death. We could not but be deeply saddened by their passing away. God promised this will be a thing of the past. Please look up what he will do with death found at 1 Corinthian15:26 and Jesus promise regarding our loved ones we lost in death found at John 21, 28, 29. May this knowledge help you endure trying times.

I met Pete a few years ago at his family home in Estacada when we gathered for the Purple Bee summer event. He was such a nice man. I was impressed with his cooking skills and the way he treated his family. He will be remembered.

I coached Peter when he was a junior varsity lineman at Dimond High School. I remember him as a large and gentle young man. My memories of him are fond and I am sorry for the loss to his family. Please tell his wife and children that an old coach has faith that their father has gone to Heaven and will see them again.

Pete was a wonderful fellow. I met him at the Urban Farm Store about sixteen months ago, and spoke with him nearly every other weekend since then about all things chicken. He special ordered my birds for me about a year ago and got me started. I will miss his kindness and wisdom. I'm grateful that I had an opportunity to know him. I visited the store today for the first time in a month and just learned of his passing. I had been looking for him in the store before I learned the sorrowful news. I missed him today. Please accept my condolences.
