Rhonda Edge Obituary

Rhonda Jo Edge, age 54, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, after a year-and-a-half-long battle with cancer.
She was born on Dec. 8, 1963, in Ellensburg, Wash., to Carl and Elaine Fleetwood. She moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, when she was 6-years-old, and then to Anchorage three years later, where she lived the remainder of her life.
Rhonda attended Anchorage Junior Academy during elementary and middle school, and graduated from Service High School in 1982. Shortly after graduating, she met her future husband, Mark Edge, and the two were married in November 1984. Rhonda and Mark were blessed with two wonderful children, Josh and Megan, in the years that followed.
Throughout her life, Rhonda loved to spend time with her family, working on all kinds of crafting projects and getting outside to enjoy all that Alaska had to offer, from four wheeling and camping in the summer, to snowmachining and spending time at the family's cabin in the winter.
As a testament to her fun-loving, adventurous spirit, Rhonda also loved to travel, especially if the trip entailed warm weather, the ocean and a soft, sandy beach. And during her nearly two-decade career with Alaska Airlines, she took advantage of opportunities to work in cities all across the United States, from Anchorage and Dutch Harbor, Alaska, to Boston, Mass., and Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Rhonda is survived by her husband, Mark; her children, Megan and Josh; her mother, Elaine; her brothers, Steve and Doug; and many sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 6 p.m., at the Hillside O'Malley Seventh-day Adventist Church in Anchorage. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Save the Manatee Club, at savethemanatee.org.

Mark, Josh & Megan. It's so hard to find words that really express our heartfelt sympathy we feel for your family. Mark has been like a brother to me since my early adult years. I've watched Josh & Megan grow into amazing adults. Rhonda has been a dear friend to Patricia and I; and we'll cherish the great times we had with her and the Edge family. We love you guys.

Mark, Josh and Megan, it has taken me a while to find the words and I still feel they are inadequate. I am so very sorry for your loss. I love this neighborhood and I loved watching your family over the years. Your mother was such a strong "no nonsense" woman. I would often point out your family to others because of your closeness. The loss to our neighborhood is palpable to me. My favorite story from your mother is a time when Josh had some friends over and the house was "full of boys doing boy stuff", so she snuck out into the motorhome for some 'alone' time. We had a great chuckle over that. Or when your dogs would make a break from the backyard, she would start the search with me, because they always seemed to know I had dog bisquits in my garage.

If there is ANYTHING, I can do for you, please let me know. It was so hard knowing what was going on across the street and knowing there wasn't a darn thing I could do to help. Josh and Megan, you have her "just do it" genes. You can't go wrong there. I am happy I knew your mother (and wife). She made my life better. With love, Nancy Salois
