Robert Clendenning Obituary

Robert (Bob) William Clendenning, (age 68) died on Monday, September 19, 2011 in Anchorage, Alaska. He died peacefully and surrounded by friends, after battling cancer for two years.

He was born on August 17, 1943, in Baltimore City, Maryland and raised in Pennsylvania. Bob worked as a shipyard worker for sometime in San Diego, California among several stops along the West Coast. He eventually came to Anchorage, Alaska where he has spent the last ten plus years.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Jodi Clendenning, nieces Heather and Sharon, nephew Bill and eight grand nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his close friends Kate Johnson, Stephen, Michele, and Chance Cornell, and all of the Parkway Congregation, as well as many of his long-time neighbors.

Bob enjoyed life in Alaska and the natural beauty of creation so easily visible in the State. He often expressed his appreciation for the beautiful view of the mountains he could see from his apartment. He came to value these things more when he gained an understanding of the Bible which he enjoyed studying. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on June 4, 2011, and enjoyed sharing with others the things he learned about God's Kingdom and the blessings in store for mankind.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, September 24, 2011. It will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2301 Strawberry Road, Anchorage, Alaska. It was Bob's desire that any who wished to send flowers, instead make a donation to the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

I also, will miss Bob, very much. I loved to play pincohle with him and sometimes Jean happened to be on line, She is a great friend of mine also. What fun evenings we have to remember!
Now I know why I was unable to get him on the phone to wish Him a Happy Birthday. God Bless!

I will miss Bob so much. We've had an online friendship since about 2003 playing pinochle. We also e-mailed each other and spoke over the phone a few times. May he rest in peace.
