Mr. Scearce was born Sept. 30, 1938, in High Point, N.C. He completed high school and went into the Air Force in 1956. He married Susan M. (McCanless) Scearce in 1965.
Ronald and Susan and children Mike, Tanya, Scott and Mark drove across country in 1976 to move to Alaska, to which Ronald had been transferred by the Air Force. He retired from the military after 24 years of service in 1980 and went on to work for the Air Force as a radar specialist for a nongovernment company until he retired fully in 2001.
He and Susan lived in Chugiak.
Ronald's true passion was fishing with his kids and grandkids. He sponsored his son, Mike Scearce, who raced cars in the Anchorage Sports Car Club, including the Fur Rondy Grand Prix and the spring and fall Tanacross races that are held each year. He was a true NASCAR fan and all-around car lover. He also loved just spending time at home with his wife of 43 years and all family members.
Ronald Scearce was a patriotic man and loved his country and home. He was a good provider for his family and a terrific father to his children, his family said. He was a kind, loving and patient man who only wanted the best for those he loved. Ronald Scearce will be greatly missed by those who love him.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Susan Scearce; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Mitchy Scearce; daughter and son-in-law, Tanya and Brian Keith; son, Scott Scearce; and son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Jamie Scearce; and grandchildren, Derek, Casey, Brayton, Rylan, Presley, Adrian and Brenna.
