Rose Maresh Obituary

Rose Marie Maresh passed away at her home in Wasilla, Alaska, surrounded by her children and loving sister.
She was born in Houston, Texas, where she attended Incarnate Word Academy and worked as a telephone operator for MA Bell while attending the University of Houston. She married Bernard Maresh on Jan. 12, 1957, and moved to the Territory of Alaska.
She often said she never imagined her, "a city girl," moving to the outbacks of Alaska. They homesteaded in Kenai for many years, eventually moved to Anchorage, and later to Wasilla to raise their family. She loved sewing and crafting and for over 20 years had a booth at the Crafts Emporium Bazaar under the name "Granny's Korner." Later, after her family was raised she owned and operated the Lace Connection located in the Cottonwood Creek Mall.
She was known to many as Mom, Grandma, Aunt Rosie and Gummy Bear. She was known for her love of Las Vegas, Nev., and you could always find her in the casino at the loudest table with the most laughter. She was an excellent baker and was known for her homemade breads and crescent rolls. She had a witty personality, great sense of humor and a strong belief in helping family and friends. Her genuine full bellied laugh was contagious and brightened many days. No matter where she traveled she had fun and those around her couldn't help but laugh right along with her. She has left a big void in our lives, hearts, and will be forever missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Maresh Sr.
She is survived by her family, Bernard and Lorna Maresh; Annette Troseth; Rosalie and Dan Talbert; Dottie and Chad Miner; Chelle and Dave Tonsing; Daniel Maresh; and her sister, Kathleen Traxinger. She also left behind 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held on May 2, 2017, at 4 p.m. at St. Michael's in Palmer, Alaska.

I was lucky enough to be able to spend some time with Aunt Rosie over the last few years both in Texas and in Alaska. I loved her quick wit and ready laughter, her love of life and family. Thank you for all the great memories. You will be missed.

I will remember all the times we had together from trying to get you to go to bed at 1am while we were in Vegas, crafting for many years for our Christmas booths, Dressing up as a witch at costume themed parties and ROCKING IT, spending the night at your home with no running water or electricity, and I will miss you at EVERY Holiday event. It wont be the same without you there but We will continue the tradition and I know you will be there looking from above. LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK...
