Ruben Robles Obituary
A funeral mass will be held for Ruben on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at St. Patrick's Parish, 2111 Muldoon Road, Anchorage, AK 99504, at 1 p.m.
Mr. Robles was born on Sept. 8, 1930, to Modesta and Frances Robles in Mesa, Ariz. He met and married Margarita Rico on June 10, 1956, in Yuma, Ariz., while stationed there in the Air Force. Mr. Robles received an honorable discharge on May 31, 1972, after 21 years of distinguished service. Following his military service, he worked 23 years (from 1974-1997) on the construction of the trans-Alaska pipeline and the North Slope. Ruben retired, in 1997, following many years of employment with Nabors Alaska Drilling.
He is survived by his spouse, Margarita Robles; daughter, Monica Mills (son-in-law Paul Mills); and son, Ruben Robles, all of Anchorage, Alaska; daughters, Francisca Zech of Camus, Wash., and Anna Van Orman of Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Robles was a member of the Teamsters Union local 959, Post #1 American Legion and Anchorage Moose Lodge #1534.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and baking. He and Margarita often invited friends and family over to their home for fun, fine food and festivities.
Ruben was a dedicated family man generous and supporting of all those he loved. He was called on regularly to dispense his wisdom and opinion by many family members, especially his grandchildren, in whom he took great pleasure and enjoyment.
The family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in lieu of flowers.
