Samuel Richards Obituary
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018, at 1 p.m., at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Anchorage, Alaska.
Sam was born on April 28, 1930, in Juneau, Alaska, to Roscoe and Vanola Richards.
He graduated from Anchorage High School in May 1949, and from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science, Business and Technology – Business Administration in 1953. He served in the U.S. Air Force, was in defense intelligence and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was an associate member of the U.S. Navel Institute.
Sam loved people and served in many community organizations. He served giving exceptional service in the American Red Cross, Civil Air Patrol, Ski Patrol, and the Alaska Pioneer Igloo #15 and Pioneers of Alaska Juneau, Igloo #6.
Sam is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred Francis Richards; daughter, Patricia and her husband Bob; son, James and wife Priscilla; daughter, Kathy and husband Patrick; son, Greg and wife Annette; daughter, Heidi and husband Sonny; grandchildren, Jason, Tasha, Justin, Desree, Nathan, Sarah, James, Krista, Melissa, Alex, Ashley, Hyrum, Bryan, Miles, Isaiah, Asianna, Milina and Sonny Jr., "Sam"; and great-grandchildren, June, Grace, Riley, Samantha, Peter, Jaycey, Ava, Niko, Landon and Madalyn. He is also survived by his sister, Carol; his brother, Fred; and many other family members.
Burial will take place at the Anchorage Memorial Park, Pioneer Section later in spring 2018.
Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
