Sandra Louise Samuelson

1951 - 2017

Sandra Louise Samuelson, age 65, was born to Joseph and Maggie Eskilida in Chitina, Alaska, on Oct. 31, 1951. She passed away on July 23, 2017, after a long battle with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, James Samuelson; her only child, Ross Eskilida; and grandchildren, Jerith, Brandon and Isaiah; and her siblings, Marilyn Joe, Roy Eskilida Sr. and Beverly Harris.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Maggie Eskilida; sisters, Helen Miller, Mildred Buck, Lillian Goodlataw, Lucille Williams, Audrey Eskilida and Linda Alexander; and brother, Albert Charley Sr.
Sandy went to school at Denali Elementary, Glennallen School and Copper Valley School. She worked at the Ahtna Lodge, Red Ram Hotel, RuralCAP and the Valdez Oil Spill.
Sandy accepted the Lord as her Savior in March 1964, at a Glennallen Chapel Revival. She loved to share the word and was never too busy to pray for loved ones. Sandy had a soft and generous heart and would do anything to help someone in need. Sometimes she would know to call right when they needed to hear a friendly voice.
Sandy enjoyed road trips with family and friends, and watching football - especially Pittsburgh Steelers games with her son and grandsons. She could find bargains, especially at garage sales. She would shop and pick things for people as she thought of them - somehow it would be something needed and a perfect fit.
We are blessed by her immense love, patience and understanding. Though we will miss her physical presence, hugs, the sound of her laughter, her warm smile and soft counsel, she will forever be in our hearts.
A visitation will be held at Legacy Funeral Home on Bragaw on Friday, July 28, 2017, at 10 a.m. Funeral Services will be held in Chitina, on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 1 p.m.
