We remember Bill with both happiness and sadness. Happy of course for the wonderful times we spent together & sad for missing him these last 10 years. Bill was a "quiet leader" that simply accomplished a lot without fan fare. So outstanding in every aspect of his life that even today he remains a role model to those that knew him. Rest in peace old buddy. Your memory is eternal. Love The Morgan Family

We were very saddened to hear from John about Bill's passing, our hearts and prayers go to Lil and children and families! I have fond memories of Bill in Shreve, and talked with him by phone over the years. We so much enjoyed his witty quips in his Christmas letter, especially about his tennis game. The word "can't" was not in his vocabulary.

I was heartbroken to hear about Bill's passing yesterday. I had known he was ill for a few months, but I was hoping that he could have pulled through. Although we did not spend too much time socially, he was my neighbor and served with me on the Board of our Community. He had a gentle way about him, yet at the same time showed great strength. I am very glad to have known him, however briefly. My heart and prayers go out to his family during this very difficult time. R.I.P. Bill. You will be missed.

Vestalia Aylsworth

I realize this may be a shock to many because my father always tried to maintain a positive outlook of life. However, my father, William "Bill" Ernest Aylsworth passed away at approximately 4:44AM on Saturday, August 9, 2014. He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma several months ago and then about two weeks ago with a rare progressive sub-form called Richter's Transformation. My father almost died last Wednesday, but then he made a brief miraculous comeback on Thursday to tell my mother, Lil in clear words: "I love you"; he responded to my brother, Lance that it was "g...to see you too and I love you too"; and he told me, Vestalia: "I love you my little one". He even raised and put out his hand as the true gentleman he always was to shake a physician's hand. Nevertheless, God must have decided that it was time for my father to experience heaven and Friday morning to Saturday early morning He took my daddy. I was blessed with a father that always let me know I am loved, and I ask that you pass it forward and let someone today know that you love them too.
In lieu of flowers, my father, William E. Aylsworth (Class of 1961) would have preferred a gift in his memory to The United States Air Force Academy Endowment Fund https://www.usafa.org/give/usafaendowment
My father's wake service will be on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Stanfill Funeral Home, 10545 S. Dixie Highway, Miami (Pinecrest), Florida 33156. Funeral service is at 7:00pm sharp.
Gravesite service with full military honors will be on Friday, August 15, 2014 (10:15am sharp) at the South Florida VA National Cemetery in Lakeworth, FL.

As the true gentleman and leader Bill was, he battled this enemy with humor, good attitude and positive spirit until he passed. In fact he stated that he had accomplished everything he wanted to accomplish in life.

Certainly Bill will be fondly remembered for his calm leadership demeanor, his fine character, his dignity and his integrity. He demonstrated these qualities many times in his life but certainly when Eastern Airlines folded and he braved this catastrophe without a public whimper. He simply went to Law School and started a new career
.
Bill was a true role model for his family, his friends, fellow Pilots, and his military comrades,

He lived his life with dignity teaching us many life lessons along the way. He died like he lived with his loved ones by his side, without fear, and without regrets.

He left us with great life lesson to emulate.

He was our friend and will be deeply missed.

With deep sorrow and regret.

Our deepest condolences to the Aylsworth family.

May his memory be eternal.
