William McNall

William Lawrence McNall, 70, passed away on June 7, 2014, after battling chronic illness for many years.

William was born on September 20, 1943, and raised in Everett, WA, where he attended elementary school. The family later moved to Edmonds, where he graduated from high school in 1961. He played softball all through elementary school and varsity baseball and basketball in high school. He married Sherrill Dianne Dalton in 1961, and their union produced three children: Kent, Kim, and Keith.

William was drafted into the army during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from military service, he attended Everett Community College, Washington State University, and Williamette University Law School. He married Mary Alice Kinkead, and their daughter Laurie was born in 1969.

After graduation from law school, William moved to Alaska, working in Glennallen and Anchorage, for the law firm of Reasor, Miller, and Ross. In 1985, he opened his own law office, McNall and Associates, which continues to operate in Anchorage. During his legal career, McNall served as president of the Alaska chapter of CAI, and was instrumental in the passage of the Alaska Common Interest Ownership Act. He was president of Chugiak Youth Sports Association for several years.

In 1978, William and Judy were married, and they celebrated 35 years of marriage last October. Their union produced two sons, Michael and Marcus.

William will be remembered for his intelligence, his perseverance, his toughness, and his caring, nurturing core. He loved his family and never tired of giving them advice and counsel. He will be greatly missed.

William was preceded in death by his father William; his mother Grace; his brothers, Greg and Patrick; and his granddaughter, Erica (Stults) Gardner.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of Mill Creek; his children, Kent (Anne) of Woodinville, Kim (Rod Stults) of Marysville, Keith of Mill Creek, Laurie (Jeff Hinman) of Stanwood, Michael (Anna) of Jupiter, Florida, and Marcus (Nikki) of Snohomish; nephews Adam (Tracy) and Travis of Oroville; 14 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

A private family memorial service will be held, and William's ashes will be scattered off Possession Point in Puget Sound, as was his desire. Memorials in William's name may be given to Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County.
