Ruby Carzell Baker
December 17, 1926 – November 29, 2025
Heaven gained one of its most faithful servants on Saturday, November 29, 2025, when Ruby Carzell Baker, of Madisonville and formerly of Adrian, Michigan, slipped peacefully into the presence of her Lord at 5:30 AM. She was 98 years old and surrounded by love until her very last breath.
Born on December 17, 1926, in Tellico Plains, TN, to the late George and Nora Roberts, Ruby lived a life marked by unwavering faith, quiet strength, and a heart that never stopped giving. In 1945, she married the love of her life, Robert Lee Baker, and the two built a beautiful life of ministry, music, and devotion-both to each other and to God.
Ruby's love for Jesus was the foundation of everything she did. Sharing the gospel wasn't just her calling; it was the joy of her life. Whether she was lifting her voice in gospel songs, tapping her tambourine in rhythm beside her husband, or visiting nursing homes week after week, Ruby carried the light of Christ with her everywhere she went. Her kindness, her warmth, and her gentle spirit touched more lives than she ever knew.
She dedicated 33 years of her life to Weirick Private Nursing Home in Adrian, MI, where she poured her heart into caring for others-planning meals, cooking, and running daily operations with a servant's heart. Her work was more than a job; it was another way she quietly loved those around her.
Ruby now rejoins her beloved husband, Robert Lee Baker; her son, Terry Lynn Baker; her sisters, Elsie Allen and Gertrude Darnes; and her brothers, Jennis Roberts and Roy Roberts, who all awaited her with open arms.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Wanda Baker of Adrian, MI, and Greg and Brandi Baker of Tellico Plains, TN. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren and their spouses-Michelle and Christopher Forrest, Amanda and Jeremy Shannon, and Gregory Baker Jr. and fiancée Carmen Melton-and through her great-grandchildren Tara, Kimmy, Dalton, Jayce, Jayden, Braelynn, Kyler, and Titan, and her great-great-grandchildren Benjamin, Naudia, Ezra, and Noah. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews who adored her deeply.
Family and friends will gather to honor Ruby's beautiful life from 1:00–3:00 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in
Madisonville, TN. A celebration of her life will follow at 3:00 PM with Pastor Jerry Dean officiating. She will be laid to rest at Druid Hill Cemetery.
Though her earthly journey has ended, Ruby's legacy of faith, compassion, and love will live on in the hearts of all who had the blessing of knowing her. Heaven is brighter today because she is there.
