Alfred Goodwin Obituary


Alfred Eron Goodwin Jr., Master Sergeant, U. S. A. F., Ret., 65, passed away on Nov. 27, 2014, at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center.

Alfred was born on July 2, 1948, in Ajo, Ariz. to Myrtle Hoover and Alfred Eron Goodwin Sr.

He is survived by his daughter Johanna of Gilbert, Ariz.; his grandson Emerson of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; his granddaughter Jessica & great-granddaughter Koda of Apple Valley, Calif. Other family members include two nephews and four nieces as well as several great-nephews and great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife Estelle (Latta), his mother Myrtle; his sisters, Arla & Wilma; and his brother, Donald.

"Big Al" served 24 years in the United States Air Force. His field of expertise was Egress which involved ejection seats.
Alfred and his wife moved to Alamogordo in 1992 where he began his 2nd career at Holloman A.F.B. with companies such as Lockeed Martin and Dynacorp.
Some of his favorite hobbies was working on cars, doing woodworking and playing golf. He also enjoyed riding his Gold Wing Honda trike around Alamogordo as well as with the American Legion and SunRunner Gold Wing Trike Associations.
He would often travel to California to visit his grandkids.

Cremation has taken place locally at PCS entrusted to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be planned for the spring.

Memorial gathering

May 28, 2015

Thank you all for your wonderful sentiments. It has been hard and I miss him every day but I know he is at peace and hopefully enjoying time with my Mom again.

Hoping folks will get to see this entry. The memorial gathering will be Saturday June 6th at 2:00 pm. We will be meeting at the American Legion Post 34 on Highway 70. Please feel free to stop by and visit.

I send you my deepest sympathy. My dear husband Jim was friends with Al, sadly my husband passed away last year in May. I remember all of the times we met at Dennys over the years with him and Estelle. They are in Heaven together now and may they Rest in peace. My condolences to you, your family and friends. Al was a GREAT man. I grew to love him like one of my family. I will miss him dearly, but most of all his stories. I could sit and listen to him for hours. Please please keep us posted on when you will have his memorial service. My husband Bill and I are available if there is ANYTHING we can help you with. Prayers and hugs to all of his family.

I'm so sorry for your families loss. I cleaned Al's house for awhile and really enjoyed getting to know him. He was a wonderful person with a great sense of humor. He will be missed!

I only met Al one time but I know he was a good man. I wish I would have had more time to get to know him better. He raised an amazing daughter who I cherish everyday.
