Arthur Zamora Jr. Obituary


Arthur Zamora a longtime resident of Tularosa, New Mexico passed away Tuesday, April 14, in Alamogordo, NM after a brief illness.

Arthur was born on Nov. 21, 1950, in Carrizozo, NM to Arturo and Mabel (Aragon) Zamora.
After graduating from Carrizozo High School in May 1969, he was drafted by the Army were he was stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX, until 1972. In 1973, he was hired as a Machinist for the Test Track at Holloman Air Force Base, where he continued to work up until his retirement in 2005. Many may remember him from the race track where he enjoyed going to watch and bet on the horses. Art enjoyed being around his many friends and family.

He is survived by his daughter Lillian Duran and her husband Sam, his son Kevin Zamora and his wife Nickie, grandchildren Seth Zamora of Las Cruces, Dominique Zamora of Tularosa, Rebecca Duran and Savannah Duran of Tularosa, his mother Mabel Zamora, brother Chris Zamora and his wife Diana, sister Margie Baca and her husband Paul, sister Veronica Whittaker and husband Doug all of Carrizozo, sisters Dorothy Zamora and Yvonne Oaks of Santa Fe, Susie Miller and her husband Randy of Alamogordo, several nieces and nephews and his special cousin Rosie Lovato of El Paso, TX.

He was preceded in death by his father Arturo Zamora Sr. and his brother Max Zamora.

Services will be held on Friday, April 17 at St. Francis De Paula Church in Tularosa.
Viewing will take place at 8:30 a.m.
Rosary will be recited by Corina Duran at 9:30 a.m. with Mass following at 10:00 a.m. with Deacon Mariano Melendrez Officiating.
Pallbearers include his friends Leo Barraza, Ricky Luna, Ted Flores, Manuel Duran, Mike Sanchez, Joe Rodriguez, Monroy Montes and Pepe Ramos.

The Zamora family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.

I graduated with Arthur's brother, Max, in Carrizozo. The last time I saw Arthur was in the Army during AIT at Ft Ord.
