Johnnie Ward Obituary

Johnnie "Scooby" Ward III was a loving and caring father, son and brother who was truly loved and will be sorely missed. He passed away Friday, April 9, 2010, in Las Vegas, Nev. He was born Sept. 8, 1980, in Alamogordo to Lois and Johnnie Ward Jr.
Johnnie was full of life and had a personality that would put a smile on your face and warm your heart. His boys were the love of his life. Johnnie truly touched a lot of hearts. He had a love for bowling, basketball, softball and football. He entered the United States Air Force on Sept. 6, 2005, at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. His last duty station was at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, where he was a health services management journeyman and worked at the 99th Medical Operation Squadron.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Mae Effie Schooler, grandfather Cleveland Smith, aunt Paulette Peterson, uncle John L. Smith and nephew Kenneth Bryant.
Johnnie is survived by his sons LaDanian T. Ward and Kian A. Ward, of Las Vegas; parents Lois Ward, of San Antonio, and Johnnie Ward Jr., of Memphis, Tenn.; sister Chundra L. Ward and her husband, Aaron Populo, of Alamogordo; brother Paul Ward, of Memphis; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home with Pastor Willard Avery officiating.
Pallbearers include Rodney Scharmack, Josh Kerlin, Jason Kerlin, Jon Daily, Donnell Bryant and Aaron Populo. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Audrade, Shayne Whitlock, Scott Vanhorn, Darrin Davenport, Tyrone Kitchen, Joseph Campauelli, Michael Crowther, Thomas Crowther and Darrick Miller.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010.
The Ward family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
