Wynette Carver Obituary

Wynette (Hayes) Carver, age 89, of Belmont, NC and formerly of Albany, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025 at the Peace Chapel at Crown Hill Cemetery at 10:00. Pastor Mark Walker of First Free Will Baptist Church of Albany will officiate.

Wynette professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and was an active member of Skyland First Baptist Church in Arden, NC. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed.

Wynette was born at home, in Cedar Springs, Georgia, the daughter of the late Horace Frank Hayes and the late Ludie Estelle Mercer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leo F. Carver, two brothers, Edwin Hayes and Tony Hayes, two sisters, Mary Frances Hayes and Beth Hayes, and her granddaughter, Morgan Carver.

Wynette was a 1954 graduate of Early County High School, where she was Salutatorian and excelled academically as well as in administrative skills. All of this led to her many years with Walden & Kirkland until her retirement in 2008 and relocating to the Asheville, NC area. Prior to moving to NC, she was an active member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Albany, GA.

Wynette is survived by her son, Randall Carver (Anita) of Port St. Joe, FL; her daughter, Sandra Powers (John) of Belmont, NC; one brother, Thomas Hayes of Dothan, AL; one sister, Orita Tedder (Mac) of Jakin, GA; seven grandchildren, Lauren Burrow (Robert) of Charlotte, NC; Katie Horgen (Doug) of Suwanee, GA; Jason Carver (Evie) of Albany, GA; Seth Carver of Albany, GA; Bethany Glass (Wade) of Okinawa; David Hendrickson (Shawn) of Newton, GA; Kara Dunn of Warner Robins, GA; eight great-grandchildren, Olivia Carver, Brad Dunn, Tyler Hendrickson, Emma Hendrickson, James Burrow, Henry Burrow, Kate Burrow, Hayle Brown, and several nieces and nephews.

We especially appreciate and acknowledge everyone who cared for her at Atrium Health Steele Creek and at Atrium Health Pineville in North Carolina. Their compassionate and professional care allowed her to peacefully transition from this life to her Heavenly home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Skyland First Baptist Church in Arden, NC or the American Heart Association.
