BALDEMAR GARCIA JR.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Baldemar Garcia Jr. on May 6, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Baldemar was born on April 27, 1959, in Alice, Texas, to Baldemar and Ninfa Garcia.
Baldemar had a true calling for service. He graduated from Michigan State University, where he earned his Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, and went on to build a career in social work, becoming a dedicated advocate for countless individuals and families. He dedicated himself to connecting others with resources and support, often working long hours and always offering a compassionate ear to those in need. His true legacy is one of selfless servicea legacy he instilled in his children by example. He found joy in life's simple pleasures. Music was a lifelong love, and he especially enjoyed songs that stirred the soul. He had a true passion for karaoke, performing with such heart and humor that it often felt like he had missed a calling as a singer. Whether belting out a favorite tune or entertaining family and friends, karaoke brought him and everyone around him genuine joy. Baldemar also loved relaxing by the lake or the beach, where he felt most at peace. He had a deep appreciation for good food and treasured time around the table, sharing meals, laughter, and stories with those he loved. Above all, Baldemar cherished his time with family. He created a lifetime of memories filled with love, warmth, and connection. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Angelnette Garcia; brother, Marty Hernandez; uncles, Alfonso Trevino and Joe Trevino; and in-laws, Ovidio Garza, Richard Koehler, Alejandro Lopez, Lubi Lichtenberger, and Lucia Lopez.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Leila Garcia; children, Jessica Garza, Baldemar "Sai" Isaiah Garcia, Renea Garcia, and Rosendo "Ross" Garcia (Alexandria); sisters, Felicita Garcia (Michael) Longnecker, Norma Garcia Koehler ( Richard), Mary Garcia Keefer (Jeff), and Sonya Hernandez (Jay); aunt Juanita Trevino Holmblade (Brian); grandchildren, Isaiah Bueno, Marlina Garcia, Caleb Garcia, Ezra Garcia-Oleniczak, and Anthony Garcia; great granddaughter Abrielle, in laws, Leonel Lichtenberger, Linda Garza, Lesbia Lopez, and Angelica Lopez; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Prayer Service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas.
