Martin Vega Obituary
Martin Vega Sr., 57, of Freer, Texas was called home to be with the Lord and his loved ones on Monday, December 21, 2020, in a San Antonio Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born on May 14, 1963, to his parents, Reyes P. Pena and Jose E. Vega in Freer, Texas.
He was a self-employed tire man and worked as a truck driver for over 30 years of his life. Martin enjoyed spending his time at his tire shop with his children and grandchildren. His family will dearly miss his famous pan de campo. He enjoyed dancing and hanging out with friends and family. He will be remembered for the bond he shared with his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. He will also be remembered for his selflessness, infectious smile, big heart, and his helping hands.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Bruno Vega. He was a loving partner of many years to Elia "Ellie" Reyna of Freer, Texas. He is a treasured father to four daughters, Vanessa (Homero) Arizpe of Maypearl, Texas, Valene (Rolando) Aguillon, Victoria (Travis) Salinas, and Valerie (Marcelo) Torres all of Freer, Texas; three sons, Martin (Kaylin) Vega, Jr, Estevan Jose Vega both of Freer, Texas, and Jose Vega of Alice, TX. He was a loving stepfather to Kayla (Roy), Elian (Avery), Ean and Ivan Aguillon all Freer, Texas. Caring Brother to three sisters Irene Vega and Irma Perez of Freer, Texas, Maria Elena Pena of Corpus Christi, Texas; three brothers, Juan Garcia of Orange Grove, Texas, Pablo Vega, and Jorge Pena of Freer, Texas. Paternal half-brother to Jose M. Vega, Frank Vega, Arturo Vega, Guadalupe Vega, Juanita Alaniz, and Hope Perez. Cherished grandpa to 14 grandchildren Nayeli and Homer III Arizpe; Delicia (Roman), Bryan, Dalyssa, Reyessa, and Ryan Aguillon, Chance Salinas, Marcelo Jr., Martin Adan, and Isaac Torres; Evan, Kaedee, and Corey Vega, and Step-grandpa to Jayden Aguillon. He was a soon to be Great Grandpa to one, and a loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a loving partner, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, soon to be great grandpa, and friend who was absolutely loved, and will be dearly missed by all.
Family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Rosas Funeral Home. Funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 12:15 P.M. to St. Mary's Catholic Church of Freer, Texas where a mass will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at the Las Piedritas Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Homero Arizpe, III, Bryan Aguillon, Chance Salinas, Marcelo Torres, Jr., Evan Vega, and Ivan Aguillon.
