Oscar Galindo Obituary

PREMONT - Oscar Galindo, resident of Premont, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2018, at the age of 91 years. Our beloved husband, father, and ""Papo"" was surrounded by loving family and devoted prayer as he quietly transitioned into Eternal Life.

Oscar was a life long rancher and dairy farmer. His dedicated life in agriculture and the dairy business led him to many years of milking cows, delivering calves, baling hay, and raising Beefmaster cattle for over 65 years. Oscar was an active member of the community and was an integral part of establishing The Greater South Texas Bank. As a Founding Director Emeritus, he remained an active member at monthly board meetings. He was whole-heartedly committed to making a difference.

Family was always this man's guiding focus. He instilled in his children, grand children, and great-grandchildren the values of respect, an untiring work ethic, honesty in all things, and always – family first. As a family, we will strive to continue his exceptional legacy.

Oscar was born on July 23, 1927 to Juan N. Galindo and Remigia Barrera Galindo. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister (Bertha Galindo); and son, (Oscar Galindo, Jr.).

This deeply loved man will be sadly missed by his wife, Cecilia G. Galindo; daughters: Yolanda Galindo of San Antonio, Texas, Berta G. Longoria of Corpus Christi, Texas, Margarita Lawrick of St. Joseph, Michigan, and daughter-in-law Odelia Galindo of Premont, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Victoria Garza (Augustin) of Kingsville, Texas, Oscar Omar Galindo (Velma) of Kingsville, Texas, Christina Cantu (Victor) of Premont, Texas, Sara Fuhrken (Tyler) of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Michael Galindo (Illeana) of Premont, Texas; and 8 great grandchildren who loved their Papo dearly: Audrey, Gabriel, Yzabella, Krysta, Cooper, Michael, DeMarco, and Cecilia.

Pallbearers will be Oscar Omar Galindo, Michael Galindo, Tyler Fuhrken, Victor Cantu, Patricio Lozano and Agustin Olivarez.

Rosary will be recited at Howard Williams Funeral Home at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. Private viewing on Wednesday for family from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and for the public, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Premont, Texas on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Falfurrias Burial Park.

There are no words that I can define the pain that you are going through, and my prayer for you is that the Lord will give you strength to face the coming days ahead without this beautiful man. Please take comfort in knowing that all the love he had for his wife and family, went with him. Oscar is now with our Lord. Rest in Peace my godfather.

Love you always, your goddaughter
