Refugio Rosales Obituary
Refugio Ramos Rosales, lovingly known as ""Cooky"", entered eternal rest on August 4, 2025, in Alice, Texas. He was born on July 4, 1948, in Alice, Texas to Silveria and Anastacio Rosales and raised in the same town, where he formed lifelong bonds and cherished memories with his family and friends. He married his wife of 27 years, Susdivinia Rosales on July 4, 1998. Cooky was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin. Cooky graduated from William Adams High School in 1965. His dedication and strong work ethic led him to enlist in the National Guard from 1970-1990, where he earned the position of Platoon Sergeant. His 20 years of service to his country will always be remembered with great pride and admiration. Following his service in the National Guard, Cooky embarked on a 40-year career with Dowell Schlumberger, a testament to his unwavering commitment and loyalty to his work. In his free time, Cooky loved cheering on his beloved Alice Coyotes and Dallas Cowboys, and loved to gamble in the vibrant city of Las Vegas. He cherished the opportunity to spend quality time with his family and friends, often gathering for barbecues and laughter-filled afternoons, enjoying a cold drink and sharing stories and memories that would last a lifetime. Cooky's words of wisdom and strong Catholic faith will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His unwavering dedication to his family and faith, as well as his commitment to his country, made him a true pillar of strength to those around him. He was a loyal member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and his legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered and cherished as a wise and loving member of our community, and his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who followed in his footsteps.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anastacio Rosales; mother, Silveria Ramos; brother, Joel Rosales; and sister, Ana Maria Najera.
Cooky is survived by his wife Susdivinia Perez Rosales; children, Cooky Rosales (Kris), Regina Rosales, Kris Goldman (Jenn), and Armando Pena (Jackie); grandchildren, Samantha Rosales, R.J. Rosales, Angelina Rosales, Tyler Rosales, Christian Garcia, Rena Garcia, Emmah Raddel, Kaity Goldman, Andrea Pena, Alex Pena; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 9 a.m. till 10 a.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a holy rosary to be recited at 10 a.m. A funeral mass will follow and be celebrated at 11:30 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Graveside services to follow at 2 p.m. at the Coastal Bend Veteran Cemetery located 9974 I-37 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Cooky Rosales, Chuck Rosales, Tyler Rosales, R.J. Rosales, Sonny Rosales, Mario Moreno and Domingo Gonzalez.
A special thanks to Reverend Susana Beltran from Altus Hospice, nurse Gracie, and many other dedicated nurses and nurses aides who helped care for Cooky with dignity and compassion. Also a special thanks to Pastor A.B. Jimenez for his prayers and comforting words.
